Mobile phone operating system that aims to give control back of user data back to the users themselves by including carefully selected open source components to ensure no user data unwillingly is collected, and that all software stays up to date.
Major smartphone operating systems collect vast amounts of user data for commercial interests, or include known security vulnerabilities because manufacturers no longer have a financial incentive to keep it updated.
Current releases are meant for Linux enthusiasts, but postmarketOS is actively working towards making the distribution friendly for less technical users.
