Horizon Europe Open Calls Relevant to NGI

Horizon Europe is the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation with a budget of €95.5 billion. It will provide support for the next seven years and is organised around three pillars:

  • Excellence in science (ERC, mobility programmes, research infrastructures)
  • Global Challenges and industrial competitiveness
  • Innovative EU (start-ups, SMEs, developers, helping to bring to the market), a new pillar.

Horizon Europe Calls relating to the next generation Internet, of relevance to the NGI community are listed under Pillar II, Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness, Cluster 4, Digital, Industry and Space.

The Horizon Europe program focuses on research and innovation in the development, support and implementation of EU policies, addressing global challenges.

HORIZON EUROPE HOW TO APPLY

The European Commission publishes proposals and calls under Horizon Europe program. You can evaluate and find all the calls and opportunities, deadlines and application forms on the Funding & tender portal.
To apply, you need to create a profile in the Funding & tender portal. Then you select the call for proposals you wish to apply for and use the online form.

CURRENT OPEN CALLS

Under the Horizon Europe 2022-2023 Work Programme the NGI initiative calls for proposals distributed in 4 topics:

  • Next Generation Internet Fund (HUMAN-01-11) (Research and Innovation Action)
  • Pilots for the Next Generation Internet (HUMAN-01-12) (Innovation Actions)
  • Next Generation Internet International Collaboration – USA (HUMAN-01-13) (Research and Innovation Action)
  • Next Generation Internet Commons Policy (HUMAN-01-14) (Coordination and support action)

The call for proposals opened on 8 December 2022 and will close on the 29 March 2023 at 5:00 pm.
